Welcome to the Pipe Masters
From opening day of the 2006 Rip Curl Pipeline Masters contest on North Shore of Oahu. This is from one of the earlier heats of the day.
WQS Srilankan 2007 Pro
The best known surf breaks are in the North and South Male' Atoll and most surfers stay in resorts closer to these surf breaks. How ever cruise operators offer specialized surfing cruises, that give you the opportunity to test some of the less known surf breaks in the atolls further away from Male' Atoll. In this picture the surfer was competing in WQS Srilankan 2007 pro in Dhonveli beach resort.

North Shore, Oahu
The most beautiful beach I've ever experienced. And in an unexpected twist, a storm had brewed up in the distance and we followed the jeeps topped with surfboards along North Shore.
2007 Sooruz Lacanau Pro
The Sooruz Lacanau Pro started and the pros arrived on a waveless spot. Disappointment... up to the reputation of the french beach breaks... fortunately this will soon change ... and a big swell is announced for the next day!
Those guys travel the world frequently in though conditions (not much money in this sport if you're not in the top 20 in the world and these 2 are far from there) ... they travel to leave they passion for surf and then they arrive in shitty conditions... I won't say it's a a though life, but frustrating for sure... for those who are not in the TOP 44 (world tour) and remain in the qualifying tour (WQS) ...
