Billabong XXL Biggest Wave of the Year
If this year's Billabong XXL Awards are any indication, waves aren't the only things getting bigger. The known big-wave universe is growing as well. In addition to familiar big waves such as Maverick's and Todos Santos, XXL finalists have come in from spots that weren't even known about a decade ago, like Ghost Tree in Monterey, Shipstern's Bluff in Tasmania or Playa Gris in Spain.

Happy After a Great Session
The Sooruz Lacanau Pro started and the pros arrived on a waveless spot. soon a 2,5m swell arrived. after a dy of perfect offshore conditions it got windy and onshore... he got lucky and did his session in the early morning before the wind got onshore... and qualified ! This may end the reputation of small waves of the french coast... It's only a question of season... he contest is put in the best commercial season (mid august), which is the worst surf season
Jordy Smith Aerial
This wave counted 2nd in his scores for the final. Everybody was amazed at what he could do in thothe though conditions !
2007 Sooruz Lacanau Pro
The Sooruz Lacanau Pro started and the pros arrived on a waveless spot. Disappointment... up to the reputation of the french beach breaks... fortunately this will soon change ... and a big swell is announced for the next day!
Those guys travel the world frequently in though conditions (not much money in this sport if you're not in the top 20 in the world and these 2 are far from there) ... they travel to leave they passion for surf and then they arrive in shitty conditions... I won't say it's a a though life, but frustrating for sure... for those who are not in the TOP 44 (world tour) and remain in the qualifying tour (WQS) ...

Closing out, but barreling
After the awesome surf at the JBay Billabong Pro 2007, it's back to the reality of Port Elizabeth's waves... Had some strange swell the other weekend that brought through some 'decent' waves late one Saturday afternoon. Had to pump the ISO on the camera though as it was getting dark and needed to keep the shutter speed high - so some are a tad grainy. Millers, Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Mike Parson on Jaws, in Maui Hawaii
Mike Parson on Jaws, in Maui, Hawaii. It's part of a documentary: The Billabong odissey, highly recommended. This wave gave Mike Parson the contest just after he wiped out incredibly.
